The Importance Of Google Plus As Part Of Your Online Marketing Strategy

As touched upon in our recent blog post which took a look at our top three 2014 SEO predictions, we strongly believe that Google Plus is going to become an even more vital part of any digital marketing campaign over the next twelve months and, with that in mind, now is the perfect time for you to sign up to and start building a presence on the platform if you haven’t done already.

Despite it launching back in June 2011, Google Plus was slow to take off with many for a number of reasons. Some saw it as adding nothing unique to what Facebook and Twitter already did very well whilst others saw it as less social than the others. Regardless of why it was slow to take off with the mainstream, however, Google Plus is rapidly gaining lost ground and this year looks to be the one where  it’s finally considered on an equal plane with Twitter and Facebook.

From a marketing side, however, it’s absolutely vital that you utilise Google Plus as part of your online strategy and we thought it only right to take a look at just why that is in a few short points:

  • It’s Owned & Operated By Google

For anyone looking to succeed online and obtain and maintain strong search engine positions on Google, it seems only right that those using Google Plus will be rewarded in some way. There’s no denying the fact that social signals are increasing in importance all of the time and to outsiders, it makes sense that their own platform will be that which they reward first As such, if you’re not already signed up and using Google Plus, what are you waiting for?

  • It’s Getting Busier By The Week

For those thinking Google Plus is a social media platform where no one posts, they couldn’t be more wrong! Whether it’s in communities or simply users posting within their circles, there’s plenty of active users on the platform (on last count in October 2013 there was 540 million active users) for you to engage with and interact with! As a business, it’s a fantastic platform and if used correctly, you can have some great successes with it!

  • Your Competitors Are Already Using It

Many businesses have already started building their following on Google Plus and there’s a very good chance that your own competitors are doing so! It always pays to stay well ahead of the competition and if they’re using platforms which you currently aren’t, you need to dedicate as much time as possible to catching them up! Online moves quickly and you need to ensure your competitors aren’t leaving you way behind!
