Behind the Scenes: Chloe’s Work Experience at C4B

During her time with us at C4B Media, Chloe, a student from Hertfordshire, got a real taste of life in a busy marketing agency. In this blog, she shares her work experience journey and what she discovered along the way.
My first day began with an office orientation and a welcome breakfast, where I had the opportunity to meet some members of the team. Following that, Jane provided me with an overview of the company’s background and the range of marketing services they offer. She also introduced me to the project I’ll be working on during my time here.
Later in the day, I spent time with Will, who gave me an introduction to email marketing. He explained its importance in digital campaigns and the strategies they use to engage target audiences. Will also spoke to me about one of their clients, ARDEX, and walked me through examples of the work they’ve produced for them, which gave me a clear idea of how their campaigns are structured and executed.
After lunch, I was introduced to Simon, one of C4B Media’s directors. He spoke to me about digital marketing and took the time to answer my questions about how to get into the industry. He recommended gaining experience by working my way up within a business, highlighting the value of learning on the job.
To finish my day, I had a meeting with Peter about project management. He introduced me to some of the tools they use, including Excel, and showed me how it can be used to track project timelines, tasks, and progress. Peter also spoke about the importance of building strong relationships within a business in order to establish trust and ensure effective collaboration. He emphasised that successful project management isn’t just about organising tasks, but also about understanding the thinking and strategy behind each project to deliver meaningful results.

1. I enjoy the creative side of marketing
Particularly how ideas are developed and brought to life through campaigns.
2. Being honest and transparent with clients
It’s essential for building long-term, trusting relationships.
3. Maintaining positive relationships with colleagues
Fosters trust and encourages collaboration within the workplace.
4. Strong communication skills are key
Not only for client interactions but also for working effectively as part of a team.
5. Gaining experience and working your way up within a business
It’s a valuable route into the marketing industry, helping to build practical skills and industry insight.
