Schools Fundraising Pack
C4B Media were tasked with developing the Mercy Ships Schools Pack. Competing with national, well known charities, it was important this made an impression and captured the imagination of the teachers and pupils.
Developing a strategy for this pack was our initial step. Understanding the journey of the pack, who it would need to persuade and therefore how it would need to be presented was key.
From this we were able to ascertain that the readers of the pack would be teachers, but the school council, made up of pupils themselves, were likely to be the final decision makers.
Given the fierce competition, we recommended a slightly different approach. We wanted the teacher and their pupils to imagine they were going on a voyage with Mercy Ships.
The end result is a pack that tells an engaging and thought provoking story, exploring The Africa Mercy as it docks at a port in Africa.
Through bright and bold design and targeted story telling the pack encourages pupils and teachers to understand the cause through their imagination and build compassion in order to take action.
The Schools Pack will be launching at the Education Show at the Birmingham NEC on 16th – 18th March. C4B Media are proud sponsors of this stand and look forward to meeting the visitors!
Encouraging children to develop compassion for a charity
Mercy Ships is an international charity with head offices in Stevenage, UK.
The charity recognised that there are thousands of people in Africa who have limited or no access to basic healthcare. In 1978 they launched and now operate the largest charity hospital ship in the world, The Africa Mercy.
Visiting ports in Africa, they dock and assess thousands of people that queue for treatment. On board all of the crew are volunteers, including surgeons, nurses, engineers and cooks. They transform and save the lives of the people they are able to treat – all for free.
